St. Joseph (Hammonton, N.J.) snapped
St. Augustine Prep (Richland, N.J.)'s 6-game winning streak, with a 42-14 victory on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run in the second quarter, the Wildcats led 28-7 at the half.
St. Joseph expanded its lead to 28 points entering the fourth quarter. SJ's lone score in the quarter came on a
Rocco Ordille touchdown run.
With the win the Hammonton school extended its winning streak to seven games. The Wildcats defeated the Vikings 28-25 last week.
Ordille played well for St. Joseph in the victory. The sophomore running back ran for three touchdowns. He has now scored seven touchdowns on the season.
The Hermits came in giving up 7.7 points per game this season. St. Augustine Prep struggled against SJ's offense, which entered the game scoring 28.3 points per game. The Wildcats had given up an average of 13.2 points prior to the contest. The 14 points that SAP ended with were well below its average of 40.2 coming into the game.
A 38-0 St. Joseph victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The defeat comes as a step back for St. Augustine Prep, which notched a 20-12 victory over Buena in its previous outing.
St. Joseph (7-0) will play a Cape-Atlantic - American game against Mainland Regional next week, while St. Augustine Prep (6-1) will take on Pleasantville in a Cape-Atlantic - National game.
