The Stanton County Trojans won the last time they faced the Elkhart Wildcats, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Stanton County strolled past the Wildcats with points to spare, taking the game 68-53. Given Stanton County's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Wildcats are ranked 278th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Stanton County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gerardo Robles, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds. It was the first time this season that Robles scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Juan Aleman, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Stanton County and bumps their season record up to 9-5. As for Elkhart, they dropped their record down to 4-9 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
Stanton County and the Mustangs will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Southwestern Heights is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Elkhart, they will head out on the road to take on the Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Syracuse has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
