Middleton has won 11 straight games at home, while Nampa has won 11 straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Vikings will host the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Middleton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season.
Middleton had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Caldwell on Friday. The Vikings put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 12-1 win. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.
Mekenna Trimmer tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Kenadi Whitlow was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sadie Stafford, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Nampa beat Caldwell 5-1 on Tuesday. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Haylee Holloway spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Avery Graham and Sarah Reveles did most of the damage at the plate: Graham went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Reveles went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Daysia Chavez was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs.
Nampa was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Caldwell only posted a batting average of .250.
Middleton is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Nampa, their victory bumped their record up to 15-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Middleton hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Nampa struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Middleton took their win against Nampa in their previous matchup on Wednesday by a conclusive 14-1 score. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
