After a string of three wins, the Key West Conchs's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were outmatched by Palmer Trinity on the road and fell 74-46. Key West has not had much luck with Palmer Trinity recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Key West's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kameron Roberts, who scored 13 points along with five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of DeMarcus Deroche, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Key West smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palmer Trinity only pulled down three offensive rebounds.
Palmer Trinity got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Graham Yanowitch out in front who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. Yanowitch hasn't dropped below 15 points for 13 straight games. Another player making a difference was George Montes, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Key West's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-9. As for Palmer Trinity, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Key West will take on Coral Shores at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Palmer Trinity, they will be playing at home against Mater Academy Bay at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mater Academy Bay is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
