On Thursday, the Mountain Vista Golden Eagles faced the Eaglecrest Raptors in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Mountain Vista secured a 70-64 W over Eaglecrest. The win was familiar territory for Mountain Vista who now have six in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mountain Vista to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cal Baskind, who scored 19 points. The matchup was Baskind's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jacob Hoefs, who scored 17 points along with five assists.
Mountain Vista's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Eaglecrest, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mountain Vista will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Valor Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Valor Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine games -- so hopefully Mountain Vista likes a good challenge. Eaglecrest will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Legend at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Hopefully Legend focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Monday.
