Wetumpka waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They walked away with a 76-65 win over the Prattville Lions. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while the Lions are ranked 325th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wetumpka to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tom Suddith, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 rebounds. With that strong performance, Suddith is now averaging an impressive 8.8 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Voyles, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards.

Wetumpka smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 12 consecutive games.

Prattville lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Xavier Dunn, who went 8 of 16 on his way to 18 points and seven assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Lewis, who posted 15 points and four steals.

Wetumpka has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. As for Prattville, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wetumpka will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Autauga Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Prattville, they will head out to face off against Percy Julian at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Prattville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matchups -- so hopefully Percy Julian likes a good challenge.
