Fort Meade was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Mulberry on Friday. Fort Meade put the hurt on Mulberry with a sharp 15-6 victory. Considering the Miners have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Nakaia Pinkston made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Pinkston was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.
In other batting news, Fort Meade got a massive performance out of Cailynn Johnson, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Johnson has posted since March 4th. The team also got some help courtesy of Marleigh Carroll, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.
Fort Meade was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mulberry only posted a batting average of .310.
Fort Meade's win bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Mulberry, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fort Meade will welcome Hardee at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mulberry, they will be playing at home against Winter Haven at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mulberry is facing Winter Haven at the right time seeing as Winter Haven is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
