Jacob Mull made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run and five RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.
Mull wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tate Jensen, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Christ the King never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Polk County.
Like Draughn, Christ the King also got a great game from a two-way player: Owen Shipman. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Shipman was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Patrick Walsh, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Jamison Ehret was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Christ the King was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .548. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in three consecutive games.
Draughn pushed their record up to 15-8 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Christ the King, their record now sits at 16-7.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Draughn hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Christ the King struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.9 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
