The Burlington Seahorses are taking a road trip to challenge the Rice Memorial Green Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Burlington has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since September 17.
Burlington is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Vermont's top teams: Mt. Mansfield, who was ranked sixth at the time (Burlington was ranked 15th). The Seahorses took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars on Friday.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 21-25, 25-19, 25-23.
Despite the defeat, Burlington got top-tier performance from Mae Yenkavitch, who had nine aces. Harper Gutheim was another key player, getting eight kills, two aces, and one block.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Rice Memorial, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They put the hurt on Colchester with a sharp 3-0 victory on Monday.
Rice Memorial never let Colchester on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-14, 27-25.
The win got Rice Memorial back to even at 6-6. As for Burlington, their loss dropped their record down to 1-11.
Burlington might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Rice Memorial when the teams last played back in September. Can the Seahorses avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
