With a playoff game on the line, the Rouse Raiders rose to the challenge on Friday. They breezed by McCallum on the road to the tune of 55-27. Given Rouse's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 288th, while McCallum is ranked 676th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rouse's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Justin Cannon, who rushed for 145 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries. Cannon was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 67 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of London Morgan, who threw for 265 yards and four touchdowns on only 17 passes.
The victory makes it two in a row for Rouse and bumps their season record up to 8-3. As for McCallum, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
Rouse will head out on the road to face off against Port Neches-Groves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Port Neches-Groves will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak. McCallum does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
