The Gonzales Spartans will head out on the road to take on the Greenfield Bruins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in California (Gonzales is ranked 1124th, while the Bruins are ranked 1148th).
On Wednesday, Gonzales was the victim of a tough 74-53 loss at the hands of the Mustangs. Gonzales has struggled against the Mustangs recently, as their game on Wednesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Even though Greenfield has not done well against the Aztecs recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Greenfield walked away with a 50-42 win over the Aztecs. The win was just what Greenfield needed coming off of a 56-34 loss in their prior match.
Gonzales' loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Greenfield, their win bumped their record up to 7-14.
Gonzales skirted past the Bruins 50-48 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gonzales since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
