Softball Recap: Bay's Losing Streak Snapped at Seven Games

Bay had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the D'Iberville Warriors on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since March 10th.

Bea Buice - 2027 made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Buice - 2027 wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Katie Vehlewald - 2027, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Mackenzie Graham - 2025 also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Bay hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive matchups.

Bay's win bumped their record up to 6-13. As for D'Iberville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Bay will head out to take on Poplarville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Poplarville's pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so Bay's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for D'Iberville, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Biloxi at 6:30 p.m. D'Iberville is facing Biloxi at the right time seeing as Biloxi is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
