Basketball Recap: Alyssa Jim and Lenea Lavender Secure Win for Alchesay

Alchesay had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They secured a 39-35 W over the Pusch Ridge Christian Academy Lions. For the Falcons, this counts as revenge for the 42-30 win the Lions walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2015.

Alchesay was led to victory by Lenea Lavender and Alyssa Jim. Lavender went 6 of 13 on her way to 14 points, while Jim posted 11 points and eight rebounds. Jim is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last ten games she's played.

Alchesay was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pusch Ridge Christian Academy only posted six assists.

Nicole NJoroge and Hannah Johnson certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. NJoroge put up 15 points along with six boards and three steals, while Johnson had nine points in addition to six boards and four steals. That's the most boards NJoroge has posted since back in January.

Alchesay's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Pusch Ridge Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-2.

Alchesay will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Snowflake at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Pusch Ridge Christian Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 55-21 defeat against Nogales on the 28th.
