Baseball Game Preview: Century Jaguars vs. Newberg Tigers

For the second straight game, Century will face off against Newberg. The Jaguars will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Tigers at 5:00 p.m.

It was a proper cat-fight when Century duked it out with Newberg on Tuesday. The Jaguars walked away with a 5-1 win over the Tigers.

Kale Naone spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks. Century is 3-1 when Naone allows one or fewer earned runs, but 8-13 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Century's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jace Willet, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Willet has hit this season. Lucas Gardner was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Newberg dropped their record down to 13-12 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Century, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-14.
