Eufaula dropped their record down to 13-17 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Long Rebels, falling 14-6. The Tigers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Rebels from their previous meeting back in March of 2019.
Zy'Kayla Robinson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Brooks, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
As for Long, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 28-4. The result was nothing new for the Rebels, who have now won 18 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
On Long's side, Anna Claire Free was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Free has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two triples, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kaylie Foster and Ansley Watson did most of the damage at the plate: Foster went 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while Watson went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Watson has posted over her last 11 matchups. Carlie Davis was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Eufaula has already played their next game, a 10-7 win against Charles Henderson on the 14th. As for Long, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 8-7 victory against Pike Road on the 11th.
