Softball Recap: Mount View Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Mount View had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Hurley Rebel Soldiers with a sharp 16-1 victory. Considering the Golden Knights have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Phoebe Dudgeon was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Mount View got a massive performance out of Tiychiera Wray, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Wray has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Peyton Fowler, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Mount View's win bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Hurley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Mount View will head out to face off against Man at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last five games the Hillbillies have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Hurley, they will head out on the road to challenge Phelps at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hornets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.4 runs per game on average), something the Rebel Soldiers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
