AAA Region 4 recap December 3, 2013
Callaway extended the longest winning streak in AAA Region 4 this week by beating St. Pius X Catholic, 35-21. The win marks 10th in a row for the the Cavaliers.
Central fell to Ringgold 35-10 last week, the largest margin of any game. Damarius Owensby ran for 107 yards in the defeat.
Central's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Wesley Long threw for 47 yards and Jared Walker had 31 yards receiving. On the ground Owensby contributed 107 yards. Curtis Davenport helped Central's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 10 yards.
Rico Zachary's team's dynamic duo of Long and Walker proved to be unstoppable against the Tigers, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Davenport helped Central's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 10 yards.
Owensby provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Lions fell to Ringgold. Owensby's key target this week was Walker, who caught 2 passes for 31 yards.
Aaron Smith was a key player and the best on defense this week as Central lost to Robert Akins' team. The 6-foot-2 defensive end recorded 1 fumble.
Jackson's Keenan Moore and Orenzo Smith have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Moore has thrown for 2,636 yards this season, while Smith has 50 catches for 1,236 yards. Business Engineering Science Tech's Deshawn Waller leads the league in rushing yards with 1,519.
Callaway led the league in scoring this week after putting up 35 points on the Golden Lions.
