Even though the Norcross Blue Devils scored an imposing 56 points on Saturday, the Douglass Astros still came out on top. Douglass came out on top in a nail-biter against Norcross and snuck past 58-56. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Douglass.
Douglass' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joshua Mickell led the charge by scoring 15 points along with 8 assists and 5 rebounds. The match was Mickell's third in a row with at least ten points. Rj Winegarner was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 assists.
Douglass' win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Norcross, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Douglass will face off against Lutheran West at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday. As for Norcross, they will head out on the road to face off against Berkmar at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Berkmar presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Norcross in Georgia (Berkmar is ranked 28th, while Norcross is ranked 230th).
