The Kosciusko Whippets won the last time they faced the Louisville Wildcats, and things went their way on Friday too. Kosciusko took down Louisville 46-32. Given Kosciusko's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Louisville is ranked 100th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kosciusko's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cory Guyton, who scored 14 points along with four steals. Guyton is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremi Wilkes, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Kosciusko is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. As for Louisville, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kosciusko won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Caledonia at 8:30 p.m. on January 27th. Caledonia is on a nine-game streak of home wins, Kosciusko a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Louisville's road trip will continue as they head out to face Greenwood at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th.
