On Wednesday, the Cherokee Trail Cougars faced the Grandview Wolves in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Cherokee Trail came out on top against Grandview by a score of 52-40. The victory was familiar territory for Cherokee Trail who now have four in a row.
Damara Allen continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 18 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Aaliyah Broadus was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five steals.
Despite the loss, Grandview still got an impressive performance from Sienna Betts, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 rebounds. Betts is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last nine games she's played.
Cherokee Trail pushed their record up to 12-2 with that win, which was their third straight at home. As for Grandview, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-7.
Cherokee Trail will be playing in front of their home fans against Eaglecrest at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Eaglecrest will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while Cherokee Trail is ranked first). As for Grandview, they will head out on the road to challenge Arapahoe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
