The Great Mills Hornets came tearing into  Wednesday's  match with four straight wins  (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Huntingtown 67-39 on the road. Given Great Mills' advantage  in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings  (they are ranked 50th, while the Hurricanes are ranked 196th), the result  wasn't entirely unexpected.
 Leading Great Mills to victory were  DeAndre Dorsey and  Cameron Brooks.  Dorsey  scored 21 points along with six  steals, while  Brooks  scored 16 points along with six  rebounds and five  steals. It was the first time this season that  Brooks  scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was  Logan Mills, who  scored nine points along with six  steals.
 Huntingtown lost  despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being   Amari Smith, who  scored nine points along with three  blocks.  Dominic Brooke was another key contributor,  scoring four points along with five  rebounds.
 Even though they lost, Huntingtown  smashed the offensive glass and  finished the game with 18  offensive rebounds. This was only their ninth loss (out of 14 games) when  they hit their own glass that hard.
 Great Mills' win was  their eighth straight on the road, which  pushed their record up to 14-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for Huntingtown, they have  traveled a rocky road recently having  lost seven of their last nine matchups,  which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.
 Great Mills will look to defend their home court  on Friday against the Panthers at 6:30  p.m. Patuxent has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 29. As for Huntingtown, they will head out on the road to  challenge  the Warriors at 6:30  p.m.  on Friday. La Plata is coming into the  match on a five-game losing streak.
