After losing to the El Capitan Gauchos the last time they met, the Sonora Wildcats decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Sonora managed a 56-50 victory over El Capitan on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Sonora.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sonora to victory, but perhaps none more so than Roger Edwards, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. Riley Edwards was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
Sonora pushed their record up to 5-7 with that victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for El Capitan, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-5.
Sonora will head out on the road to face off against Ripon Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. El Capitan won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Turlock at 3:00 p.m. on December 16th. Turlock knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully El Capitan likes a good challenge.
