After flying high against Nixon-Smiley last Tuesday, Luling came back down to earth. The Luling Eagles fell just short of the Karnes City Badgers by a score of 3-2 on Friday. While the Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Badgers 25-20 in the first period.
Luling started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 13-25, 20-25, 25-19, 29-27, 15-7.
Even though they lost, Luling was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 18 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in September of 2023.
Mia Lopez went supernova for Karnes City, getting five aces, two kills, and 16 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Wieding, who had eight kills and three aces.
Luling's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-18. As for Karnes City, their record now sits at 11-20.
Luling will welcome Stockdale at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Karnes City, they will head out to square off against Nixon-Smiley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
