Oxford is 0-10 against Tupelo since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Oxford Chargers are on the road again and plays the Tupelo Golden Wave at 6:00 p.m. on February 16th. Oxford will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 137th, while Tupelo is ranked 15th).
Last Friday, Oxford earned a 40-29 win over DeSoto Central.
After soaring to a 20-point victory in their last game, Tupelo came back down to earth on Friday. They fell just short of Germantown by a score of 39-37.
Oxford's victory bumped their record up to 10-18. As for Tupelo, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-9.
Oxford was taken down by Tupelo 57-22 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Oxford avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
