It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Federal Way Eagles duke it out with Kentlake Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Federal Way will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Beamer on Monday. Federal Way put the hurt on Beamer with a sharp 18-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won seven in a row.
Eva Adriano made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single hit and allowed only two earned runs while striking out six over five innings pitched. Adriano was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 4-for-4.
In other batting news, Federal Way got a massive performance out of Meeghan Meagher, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Sosephina Sailiai was another key player, going a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple.
Federal Way always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Beamer only posted an OBP of .348.
Meanwhile, Kentlake got the win against Jefferson on Monday by a conclusive 7-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Falcons.
Riley Linnane spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 17 Ks.
At the plate, Josie Pedeferri was excellent, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Hi'Ilei Gomes, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Federal Way's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Kentlake, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
