Cape Fear is a perfect 10-0 against Jack Britt since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Colts will square off against the Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Jack Britt will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Cape Fear extended their winning streak to seven on Wednesday. The Colts blew past Lee County 17-5.
McKinley Kolasa made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Amari Adams and Jaden Valdez did most of the damage at the plate: Adams scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances, while Valdez scored four runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Those four runs gave Valdez a new career-high. Peyton Eason was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Cape Fear hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least one batters in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Jack Britt waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 14-8 margin over the Raiders.
Ashanthy Marcano was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-5. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Emma Sandoval, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.
Cape Fear pushed their record up to 15-3 with the victory, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Jack Britt, their record now sits at 11-7.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cape Fear hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .540. However, it's not like Jack Britt struggles in that department as they've averaged .374. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cape Fear took their victory against Jack Britt in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Colts since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
