Basketball Game Preview: Calvary Academy Warrior vs. The Pilgrim Academy Pioneers

Calvary Academy is 2-8 against The Pilgrim Academy since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Calvary Academy Warrior will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against The Pilgrim Academy Pioneers at 5:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Calvary Academy is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Varsity Opponent. Calvary Academy simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Varsity Opponent 60-30. The squad ran away with 47 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the win.

Calvary Academy's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kieran Riccobono, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine assists, and Shawn Fraumeni, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 boards. The dominant performance gave Riccobono a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jalen Li, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, The Pilgrim Academy lost to John Bartram at home by a 76-61 margin on Saturday.

Calvary Academy will have to contain Ayden Miller as he made an impact in The Pilgrim Academy's last game. He shot 4-for-7 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 31 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke McGonagle, who posted three points and three steals.

Calvary Academy came up short against The Pilgrim Academy in their previous matchup back in January, falling 60-51. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Miller, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 boards.
