The Tyler Classical Academy Eagles lost against the King's Academy Knights back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Tyler Classical Academy took a hard 55-38 fall against King's Academy. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Tyler Classical Academy in their matchups with King's Academy: they've now lost seven in a row.
Despite the loss, Tyler Classical Academy saw an underclassman step up: John Cooksy scored 11 points.
It was another big night for Evan Hellwig, who scored 16 points along with six steals and five rebounds for King's Academy. Hellwig hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Everett Hollis, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Tyler Classical Academy has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for King's Academy, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-16.
Tyler Classical Academy will stay at home for another game and welcome Varsity Opponent at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd. As for King's Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Marshall Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
