St. John Paul II scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They lost to the Wakulla War Eagles at home by a 73-57 margin. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the War Eagles earlier this season, when they won 53-49.

When it comes to explaining why St. John Paul II lost, don't look at Rex Lunt. Despite the final result, he posted 23 points and six rebounds. Lunt also posted an assist, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Micah Moxey, who earned 15 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wakulla to victory, but perhaps none more so than D'Angelo Jefferson, who almost dropped a double-double with 27 points and nine boards. With that strong performance, Jefferson is now averaging an impressive 16.4 points per game. Zavion Carnline was another key player, putting up 20 points.

St. John Paul II's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Wakulla, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-5.

St. John Paul II will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Santa Fe at 2:15 p.m. on the 27th. Wakulla will take on Liberty County in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The War Eagles' defense better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 59.8 points per game this season.
