Baseball Recap: Willowbrook Snags 11th Victory in Last 12 Games

Willowbrook barely beat Berwyn/Cicero Morton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Warriors blew past the Mustangs 9-2 on Thursday. Considering the Warriors have won 12 games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Luke Ranieri tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sam Marrese, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Charlie Siegler was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Willowbrook is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Berwyn/Cicero Morton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-21.
