The Northwestern Warriors will head out to challenge the Shawnee Braves at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Northwestern is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Northwestern is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Saturday. They took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Liberty-Salem. That's two games in a row now that the Warriors have lost by exactly four runs.

Kaleb Valle was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 4-for-4. Samuel Baggett was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Shawnee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 7-4 to Tecumseh.

Joey Ross and Kaiden Roeder did some serious damage despite the final result: Ross scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Roeder scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Luke Finnell also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Shawnee's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Northwestern, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Shawnee's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Northwestern has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .439. It's a different story for Shawnee, though, as they've only averaged .324. Will they be able to contain Northwestern's hitters?

Northwestern came up short against Shawnee when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 8-5. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
