Landon Thompson was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Atlantic: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-8 otherwise.
In other batting news, Joseph Santa Barbara made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. Rouss Doverno was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Glades Central lost 25-8 to Atlantic Christian on Thursday. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Christopher Leon was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing five bases while going 2-for-2. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmanuel Ruiz, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Glades Central's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Atlantic, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Atlantic has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .462. However, it's not like Glades Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .465. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
