Basketball Game Preview: Whitmore Lake Trojans vs. Charyl Stockwell Preparatory Academy Sentinels

The Whitmore Lake Trojans are taking a road trip to challenge the Charyl Stockwell Preparatory Academy Sentinels at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Whitmore Lake's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven matches.

While Whitmore Lake didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Hope Christian Academy, posting a 64-17 victory. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 296th, while the Hawks are ranked 714th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Nate Dillon continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Fair, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.

Whitmore Lake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Charyl Stockwell Preparatory Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 48-47 win over Novi Christian Academy.

Charyl Stockwell Preparatory Academy has also been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season. As for Whitmore Lake, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2.

Whitmore Lake barely slipped by Charyl Stockwell Preparatory Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 47-46. Does Whitmore Lake have another victory up their sleeve, or will Charyl Stockwell Preparatory Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
