The Clearwater Tornadoes entered their tilt with the Tampa Prep Terrapins with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Clearwater came out on top against Tampa Prep by a score of 59-47 on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Clearwater also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2019.
Clearwater found their leader in underclassman Allevia Williams, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Williams pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Pink Sturdivant, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds.
Tampa Prep's loss came despite strong showings from Gabby Bush and Kimora Green. Bush scored 14 points, while Green scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Treniti Fluker, who scored eight points.
Clearwater is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Tampa Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 11-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clearwater will take on Lakewood at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Clearwater's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games. As for Tampa Prep, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Patel at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Tampa Prep is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.4 points per game this season.
