The Excel Christian Warriors scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They really took it to Sage Ridge for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-29 victory at home. That looming 56-29 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Excel Christian yet this season.
Excel Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mark Doerfler, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and four blocks. Keegan Davis was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with nine rebounds.
Excel Christian now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Sage Ridge, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Excel Christian will face off against Pyramid Lake at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Pyramid Lake is ranked 69th, while Excel Christian is ranked 78th). Sage Ridge will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Virginia City at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th. Virginia City knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven contests -- so hopefully Sage Ridge likes a good challenge.
