This season hasn't been kind to the Greenback Cherokees, who are still winless after their fifth contest. The matchup between Greenback and Maryville Christian wasn't particularly close, with Greenback falling 53-38. Greenback was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Maryville Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Several Cherokees players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emory McDonell, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Shay McDonell, who scored 9 points.
The last time Greenback won on the road was back last Tuesday. Having now lost three straight away contests, they've bumped their record down to 0-5. As for Maryville Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greenback will take on Oliver Springs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Maryville Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Apostolic Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
