After a string of three wins, the South Bend Adams Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 56-40 bruising from NorthWood. While losing is never fun, South Bend Adams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 189th, while NorthWood is ranked 43rd).
Leading NorthWood to victory were Joselyn Edwards and Claire Payne. Edwards scored 20 points along with seven rebounds, while Payne dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds. Payne is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games she's played. Haylee Heflin was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
South Bend Adams' defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-7. As for NorthWood, they pushed their record up to 12-2 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home.
South Bend Adams' road trip will continue as they head out to face Portage at 10:00 a.m. on December 28th. As for NorthWood, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Merrillville at 11:30 a.m. on December 29th.
