It was a good run, but South Haven Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They were the victim of a tough 57-33 defeat at the hands of Franklin Road Christian. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for South Haven Christian in their matchups with Franklin Road Christian: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, South Haven Christian still got an impressive performance from Aliya Gagliano, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Gagliano scored a full 45.5% of South Haven Christian's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josie Gillilan, who scored four points.
Franklin Road Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gracie Tidwell led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Tidwell is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. Bryleigh Dempsey was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six steals.
South Haven Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Franklin Road Christian, their win was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1.
South Haven Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Clarksville Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 8, 2024. Franklin Road Christian won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Dickson Academy at 6:30 p.m. on December 15th.
