The Therrell Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They fell to Clarke Central 74-68. While losing is never fun, Therrell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 437th, while Clarke Central is ranked 214th).
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Andrew Taylor, who scored 20 points along with six assists and five steals. The matchup was Taylor's 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Woolridge, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Therrell has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season. As for Clarke Central, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.
Therrell and Carver will face off at 5:00 p.m. on December 28th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Carver will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line. Clarke Central will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Loganville at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
