On Tuesday, Mater Dei strolled past the Wildcats with points to spare, taking the game 62-43. Mater Dei pushed the score to 51-31 by the end of the third, a deficit the Wildcats cut but never quite recovered from.
It was another big night for Drake Wagner, who scored 25 points along with two steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Mater Dei's points. Nick Lampe was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Noah Nix, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Brenan Lux, who scored six points along with eight rebounds.
Mater Dei's victory bumped their record up to 13-14. As for Salem, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-18 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mater Dei will take on the at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Salem, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Midgets at 7:30 p.m.
