The Wapakoneta Redskins will challenge the Van Wert Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Wapakoneta is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
On Thursday, Wapakoneta made easy work of Lima Senior and carried off a 9-2 victory. The Redskins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.
Jarrett Mullen and Caleb Miller made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Mullen pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Miller pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Mullen got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run, while Miller went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grant Jolly, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to hits, as he's now got three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Joel Moore was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Wapakoneta always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lima Senior only posted an OBP of .286.
Meanwhile, Van Wert sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Crestview on Wednesday.
Van Wert saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Case Stegaman, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Wapakoneta pushed their record up to 8-0 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Van Wert, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
Van Wert's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Wapakoneta has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .495. It's a different story for Van Wert, though, as they've only averaged .340. Will they be able to contain Wapakoneta's hitters?
Wapakoneta came out on top in a nail-biter against Van Wert when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. Do the Redskins have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
