The Mayer Wildcats lost against the North Phoenix Preparatory Academy Gladiators back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Mayer took a 38-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gladiators. Mayer has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Mayer's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tanner Carlise, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Earl Williams, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 16 rebounds.
Mayer has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season. As for North Phoenix Preparatory Academy, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-11.
Mayer does not have any more games scheduled as of now. North Phoenix Preparatory Academy also has no future games currently scheduled.
