Softball Recap: Saturday's Defeat Ends Beaver's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Beaver unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Hampton Talbots by a score of 7-5. If the Bobcats were looking for revenge after losing 13-0 to the Talbots when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Jaedyn Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on 12 hits.

At the plate, Bridget Mayo made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Sami Springman, who went 2-for-3 with one home run.

Beaver's loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Hampton, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-3.

Looking ahead, Beaver will host Western Beaver at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Golden Beavers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.75 runs per game on average), something the Bobcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. Hampton will be paying especially close attention to Beaver's match: after Beaver faces off against North Catholic, they'll take on Hampton again at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
