The Union Area Scotties will face off against the Sharon Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Union Area 3, Sharon 0.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Union Area was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Bishop Canevin on Friday. The Scotties' pitchers stepped up to hand the Crusaders a 20-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Scotties in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now won six in a row.
Korynne Shannon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Union Area always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .692. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Sharon hadn't done well against Hickory recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Tigers had just enough and edged out the Hornets 1-0. The one-run effort marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
The result came thanks to Madelyn Vogan's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 18 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Sharon's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Pagliarini, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double was Pagliarini's first of the season.
Sharon's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Union Area, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Union Area has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12 hits per game. However, it's not like Sharon struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 1.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
