Both Bassfield and Bay Springs have made it this far into the playoffs, but they square off this Friday at 7:00 PM to determine who is worthy to move on. Bassfield has been tearing up the endzone with big points in its last nine contests.
Bassfield earned a prettry comfortable 41 - 22 victory over Heidelberg last week. Senior running back Ron Thompson was especially active in the win, finding the endzone an impressive four times. Thompson has been a consistent playmaker for Bassfield as this was the 14th good game in a row from him.
As for Bay Springs, it blew past Union last week 30 - 6. Senior running back Jaylin Jones deserves a lot of the credit as he split the defense to the tune of 152 yards. This marked the 3rd consecutive game in which Jones had 100+ rushing yards.
Their wins bumped Bay Springs to 11-3 and Bassfield to 12-2. Its offensive line will need to gear up for a tough test against a Bassfield defense that got five sacks against Heidelberg last week. We'll see if it is up to the challenge.
