Clifton Central is 0-10 against Beecher since May of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Comets will be playing at home against the Bobcats at 4:30 p.m.
Clifton Central fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Paxton-Buckley-Loda on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 10-9.
Emily Ponton and Rayven Perkins stepped up to the plate in a big way. Ponton went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Perkins went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Perzee, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Beecher strolled into their game on Saturday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over Sterling. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won five contests by nine runs or more so far this season.
Allie Johnson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Johnson was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Liliana Irwin was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Grace Wuest, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Beecher was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sterling only posted a batting average of .118.
Beecher's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Clifton Central, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.
Clifton Central might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Beecher in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Comets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
