The Orangeburg-Wilkinson Bruins scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Dreher 65-28 on the road. Given Orangeburg-Wilkinson's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while Dreher is ranked 214th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Orangeburg-Wilkinson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jenia Haigler, who scored 16 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Haigler has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Tameya Knotts was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with four steals.
The win (which was Orangeburg-Wilkinson's fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points per game. As for Dreher, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-10.
Orangeburg-Wilkinson will be playing in front of their home fans against Lower Richland at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lower Richland is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Dreher, they will head out on the road to square off against Gilbert at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Gilbert's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Dreher has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.
