The Elite Academy Eagles 's's game on Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They strolled past Westwood Christian with points to spare, taking the game 73-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Elite Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Travis Chin, who scored 19 points. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Ladainian Brooks, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds.
Westwood Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gabriel Gallego, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and seven assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gallego has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Taylor, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Westwood Christian were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elite Academy only racked up three assists.
The victory got Elite Academy back to even at 6-6. As for Westwood Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3.
Elite Academy will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against American Heritage at 2:30 p.m. on December 30, 2023. American Heritage presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Elite Academy in Florida (American Heritage is ranked 101st, while Elite Academy is ranked 224th). Westwood Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Cooper City at 5:30 p.m. on December 30, 2023.
