The Atlantic Coast Stingrays will head out on the road to challenge the West Nassau Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Atlantic Coast is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
West Nassau will be up against a hot Atlantic Coast squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Stingrays walked away with a 7-2 victory over Paxon School For Advanced Studies on Thursday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
DJ Johnson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carter Terryn, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. Tyson Borer was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Nassau). They were the clear victors by a 13-4 margin over Old Plank Christian Academy on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Warriors needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Mason Bass looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
On the hitting side, Fisher Bennett was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Grayson Hill, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Atlantic Coast picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 6-3. As for West Nassau, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
West Nassau's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Atlantic Coast has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .451. It's a different story for West Nassau, though, as they've only averaged .331. Will they be able to contain Atlantic Coast's hitters?
Atlantic Coast came up short against West Nassau in their previous meeting back in March of 2016, falling 10-7. Can the Stingrays avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
