The Orange Park Raiders scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They really took it to Sandalwood for the full four quarters, racking up a 72-36 win at home. The win was a breath of fresh air for Orange Park as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.
Orange Park had a senior duo take command as Piera Alexander scored 15 points along with three steals and Mychaela Parker dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Parker has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sydney Kenney, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Several Saints players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jahkyra Rodman, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. Rodman also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Kirsten Gudmalin was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Orange Park's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-10. As for Sandalwood, their defeat was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-19.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Orange Park will take on the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Sandalwood, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th.
